Philosophy (inevitable!)

Gynaepedia appreciates the need for exams. We also appreciate the impact exams can have on you as an individual and everything that surrounds you. There exists a pleasure in approaching the door to the examination hall and smiling with confidence waiting to decimate the Questions. We aim to equip you with everything needed to achieve that state. We hope that, when the examiner shouts out ‘Your time starts now’…. you will Relish the Challenge

Gynaepedia provides an invaluable free resource of everything gynaecological. The website has got a vast range of topics covered and new being added each week. We love to share the knowledge, and would love you to share it with your colleagues.

All resources on the website are free and will always remain free. We firmly believe in Copyleft, Creative Commons and Open Source. We wish to make Obstetrics & Gynaecology easy, accessible and fun to practise. It is arguably the best surgical speciality and we hope this website will assist you to enjoy the marvels of this amazing science!

We continuously publish cheatsheets on new topics as they become available. Press “Following” tab in the toolbar above to receive notification as new material is released for view and download. You can also press “Like” if you have found the material on Gynaepedia useful, it will encourage us to continue providing free help to pass the exam!

 

MRCOG Part II (2020 update)

For those still preparing for the exam, go on full speed ahead. For those who have had their exam deferred, disruptive as it is, take it as a good opportunity to double up your revision and a guaranteed pass at the end.

Online MRCOG Part 2 is likely to be the future for 2021, so after a brief break and recharge of your batteries in the summer, make plans to kick start your revision.

We are adding new materials to the Gynaepedia Examination Training Online, so be sure to get access and practice. Try and attend the Gynaepedia Examination Masterclass at the earliest opportunity to develop a strategy that works best for you early, and you will sweat less in the Exam!

The MRCOG Part II is our special interest.

We are driven by an urge to get you through the exam, whether it is your first time or last. We are committed to not let any of our candidates suffer. We are confident that with our Gynaepedia Examination approach, you will have the expertise to solve Exam questions and convert your score into a comfortable pass. We believe that you have all the skills in place to beat the centiles. At the course we will equip you with the technique to solve any question you are confronted with. This technique will be excelled into perfection by practicing questions all through the course.

All questions have been designed in close conjunction with the New Format of the MRCOG Part II. The questions are very high yield, made from Hot Topics that are current favourites of the College. There are no lectures at the Masterclass, we strongly believe that correct application of your knowledge is the key to success.

Practice, practice, practice is what you will get at GEM!

There is free material available on our website that we consider is the bare minimum, to consider sitting for the exam.

The Course is best attended at least 4 months before the exam to consolidate your technique.

We absolutely love feedback. It is our only way of getting out of our narcissistic selves. We would want  to hear from you therefore please leave us  your valuable  comments below.

GET Online 2020 ***NEW***

We had a great demand from overseas candidates, and we launched an Online component to GEM for those candidates who could not attend the Classroom Course. It started in 2016 and has helped numerous candidates pass the exam, we have had amazing feedback.

Covid 19 has shown the world a new reality, and remote learning has become more important than ever before. With an established database of questions and high quality material, GET Online is a tried and tested source for focused revision.

    Please go to ‘Recent Posts’ and check the new MindMap on NICE Intrapartum Care Guideline 2014 on CTG interpretation and management.

    The classification of CTGs has changed completely, more in line with American guidelines.

    Thank you for your encouraging comments for the cheatsheet last month on Appendicitis in pregnancy!

    Here is a cheatsheet on a vital topic that is favourite with the College. We will discuss it in detail if you are coming for the GEM Course, where you will also get a lot of practice with questions. In the end, you should have mastered this topic and decimate any questions you get on this!

    In the meanwhile, get cracking with revision!

      You should go to the RCOG website for important basic information. (www.rcog.org.uk)
      You could also try Dr Tom MacFarlane’s website, He has posted a lot of material which can be very useful. You could google it to find out.
      There are many other online resources as well. An internet search would be useful.

      Feel free to use the material on this website. Most of the stuff here is clinical and possibly more relevant for MRCOG Part II. But recently, MRCOG Part I has become more clinical and you might benefit from the stuff here anyway. Its free to use and download so you could give it a go.
      The key challenge is to remain focused and not stray from the requirements from the Exam. We suggest that you have a question based approach to the Exam.
      Our apologies that we can not help you anymore for Part I. We would love to see you at Gynaepedia Examination Masterclass for your Part II!

      A new cheatsheet is nearly ready on the new Menopause NICE guideline, which will certainly figure in the Exam at some time. Be on the lookout for that.

    Please find attached the link for a Cheatsheet on the RCOG guideline on PMS from December 2016. PMS is always a good topic for the MRCOG Part 2 and a good one to know well for the OSCEs as well.

    For those of you who have booked for the Online Course, well done! Now is the time to put your knowledge to the test and the questions are instrumental in developing a technique for the questions.

    Those who have booked for the Masterclass in Torquay – See you in June. You will get all the study material on the day, just be prepared for the onslaught of questions!

    Hope your preparations are well under way. With little time to go, this is the phase where you need to step up your efforts.

    RCOG has released this mammoth guideline… Inherited Bleeding Disorders in Pregnancy… 72 pages long!

    It covers all inherited bleeding disorders. We have made 3 cheatsheets to cover the whole guideline. This one is Part 1. Make sure you check Parts 2 & 3 soon.

    This guideline is new, so you may not get questions from it directly for the September Exam. However, the knowledge will come in handy, especially the numbers bit in the beginning.

    Go to Recent Posts in the top right and click link on page to download the summary for free.

  46. The College loves simple questions on cancer staging, which can make easy marks if you have memorised features. New updates occured in cervical cancer staging with FIGO and it is time for those questions to make their way into the Exam.

    Navigate to Gynae oncology and find the updated cheatsheet, free to download. Print it, stick it to your wall, and check it out everyday, there is a lot in it, but crucial for easy marks if committed to memory.
